ABOUT THE COMPOSER

The legendary story of “The Nutcracker” ballet unfolds at a spectacular Christmas feast in 19th-century Germany. The heroine, Clara, receives a unique nutcracker from her godfather, Drosselmeyer. The environment transforms magically when the clock strikes midnight, and Clara is taken into a wonderful realm. In this universe, her beloved nutcracker comes to life and destroys the frightening Mouse King with Clara’s help, changing into a gorgeous prince.
