Etudes is a ballet with music by Carl Czerny, is a one-of-a-kind and technically hard piece that serves as both a dazzling display of virtuosity ballet technique and a tribute to Czerny’s musical studies. The ballet is comprised of a series of increasingly difficult exercises that lead the audience through several levels of ballet training, from fundamental barre exercises to complicated pointe technique and jumps. It ends in a magnificent and grand climax in which the dancers demonstrate their extraordinary abilities and the ballet’s exquisite choreography achieves its pinnacle. Etudes is a visual feast of ballet technique as well as a tribute to Czerny’s musical works, which are noted for their educational piano pieces meant to train and strengthen pianists’ talents.

Carl Czerny (1791-1857), an Austrian composer and pianist, occupies a significant place in the annals of classical music as a prolific composer, pedagogue, and virtuoso pianist. Born in Vienna, he received his early musical education under the guidance of Ludwig van Beethoven and rapidly emerged as a child prodigy. Czerny’s substantial compositional output includes symphonies, chamber music, and choral works, but he is perhaps most renowned for his numerous pedagogical compositions, such as the “School of Velocity” and “The Art of Finger Dexterity,” which continue to be integral to piano education.
