Les Sylphides, originally titled “Chopiniana,” is a ballet that beautifully blends the enchanting world of dance with the ethereal compositions of the renowned Romantic composer Frédéric Chopin. Composed in 1907 by Mikhail Fokine, this ballet serves as a dreamlike, atmospheric exploration of pure, unadulterated movement. Set in a moonlit glade, it features a group of sylphs or woodland spirits, dancing with an otherworldly grace and elegance.

Frédéric François Chopin (1810-1849) was a brilliant and influential Polish-French composer and pianist of the Romantic era. Born in Poland, he displayed prodigious musical talent from an early age, and his compositions quickly gained recognition throughout Europe. Chopin’s life was marked by both personal and artistic struggles; he battled chronic illness and lived most of his adult life in Paris, where he became an integral figure in the city’s vibrant cultural scene. His music, primarily composed for the piano, is celebrated for its exquisite lyricism, emotional depth, and innovative harmonies. Chopin’s works include numerous nocturnes, waltzes, polonaises, and etudes, which continue to be staples of the classical piano repertoire
